YEAR 2
The final week of the spring term was both fun and productive!  
In Topic, we designed our own shields fit with individual and unique coats of arms. We included keys in our designs so that we could identify the meaning of the various features. For example, using the colour red could mean being a great warrior, a cross could mean protection and the lion could mean royalty. We made sure we included colours, patterns and animals for this purpose. We also added the name of the kingdom in a scroll underneath using family names; mine would be the House of Daglish, for instance.
In Maths, we revisited previous learning and focused on areas that had proved challenging in our assessments. In English, we continued our traditional tales, most having finished them now, and also undertook assessments. Again, very pleasing results! In Art, we drew a sperm whale in the ocean - "there she blows!" Of course, the children added details to the surface and underwater environment including ship wrecks, tourists, deep-sea divers and even sunken treasure! 
Finally, in PSHE we looked at various things we are great at and why that is so. We finished sentences that started like, 'I am a great friend because...' We put the sentences into large balloons and coloured them. It's important to focus on what we are great at as much as areas we can development in. 
A great way to end the spring term, Year 2, well done! 
RUSSIAN (Native). With Y1, Y2 and Y3 we talked about friendship and our best friends. We started the lesson with a Russian proverb «Дерево без корней, как человек без друзей», which translates as "A tree without roots is like a man without friends." The children made a friendship tree and described what personality traits they like in their friends.
