6.  **With the image still selected, click the Edit** → **Adjustments** button. You see the Adjustment dialog box shown here. You can make color adjustments to the image using the Color Picker.
You can also drag the color sliders across the color bars and adjust the color of a specific area using an eyedropper that follows the selection you draw. You can also use Curves.
  7.  **Click OK**.
A dialog box appears, asking you to Save the image.
UP TO SPEED: The Importance of Layers
You can use layers to keep your image organized when you're making multiple changes. For example, suppose you change the color of a shape using the Adjustment panel's Hue/Saturation dialog box and then you make a change to the background color using the Layer Styles dialog box.
Let's continue our example. Suppose you change the color of the shape in the top-right portion of the image to blue. Then you notice that the sky in the background appears a little bit purple, as shown in Figure 6-7. Because you want to keep these two colors separate, you might create a new layer with the shape on it. Then you can add the Hue/Saturation adjustment to it and change the color to blue. You can then change the color of the background layer to something entirely different, such as yellow, if you like.
The Layer Style feature enables you to add effects like shadows, highlights, and reflections to a specific layer. Figure 6-8 shows the same image shown in Figure 6-7, but this time it's layered. The lightest layer (layer 4) is set as the active layer, so that when you adjust the layer's settings in the Layers panel, those settings are applied to the image.
