Let it snow, let it snow, let it snow ⛄☃🛷⛄
It's been a week of building igloo's, making snowmen, throwing snowballs and making snow angels for Year 1. Outdoor play engages all the senses. When children play with snow, it strengthens fine and gross motor skills. They can also apply basic principles of art, science, and engineering. What is a question mark? That was what we asked ourselves this week in English. We spent lots of time asking each other questions using, what, where, and how. During Partner Reading, students monitor the reading of a fellow student. Pairs work together on a variety of texts, building their reading confidence, increasing concentration, practicing interacting socially in a positive way, and improving their motivation to read. Year 1 loved it! In Mathematics we used a hundred square to count in 2's. We started at different numbers using an interactive game and were able to say the number before and after up to 100. Sometimes Year 1 like to move, so we danced to 'Waka Waka' It's time for Africa. All of us had to follow the dance moves and we did really well.
