The historic event marks the first casino-hotel implosion in Atlantic City

Pinnacle Atlantic City today announced that the implosion of the legendary Sands Casino Hotel will be held on Thursday, October 18, 2007 at 9:30 p.m. (rain or shine). The historic event marks the first casino-hotel implosion in Atlantic City and on the East Coast. The implosion of the 21-story Sands tower will be preceded by a state-of- the-art fireworks and light show designed by Fireworks By Grucci, the top name in fireworks entertainment. Pinnacle's team of demolition experts includes Controlled Demolition, Inc. (CDI), which is handling the overall implosion design, drilling operations and explosives placement; R.E. Pierson Construction Co., the project's general demolition contractor, which will be responsible for mechanical demolition, materials recycling and debris removal; and PS&S, which has been providing various environmental and engineering consulting services. "The implosion signals the beginning of a very important chapter in Pinnacle's development and in the growth of Atlantic City," said Daniel R. Lee, Pinnacle's Chairman and Chief Executive Officer. "We thank the City of Atlantic City and New Jersey state officials for their support and cooperation in ensuring the success, excitement and safety of this landmark event."
