Welcome to the EIS Newsletter, Issue No. 26!

It has been an action-packed week for sure with a lot to cover. No Headteacher Awards, as well, so more space for other things.

Monday was April Fool's Day and I recruited Aliabas Y6 - or should I say Mr. Aliabas, new Principal of EIS - to play a prank on the school. The teachers were in on it as he addressed the school in the morning to say I had floated away on a hot-air balloon over the weekend. Mr. Aliabas outlined his Golden Rules to the school and spent the morning checking on the teaching and learning going on at EIS. He went into every classroom, from EYFS to Y11! Very brave and such a good sport! Here are Mr. Alaibas's, very reasonable, Golden Rules:

• I will receive 10% of all financial transactions!
• As before, if anything goes wrong, we blame Mr. Scholtz!
• There is only one good egg around here that is me!
• I cannot operate unless I get at least 5 cups of coffee a day. That is Minato’s job in Y3!
• Only come to my office carrying cake, gifts or biscuits. I am not interested in naughty kids!

It was Easter Monday so Ms. Fox had organised a massive Easter Egg hunt for the afternoon with real chocolate eggs dotted around the grounds. It was very enjoyable seeing students from 3 years old to 16 years old enjoying the Easter fun and helping each other out. Being House Point based added the competitive edge to the occasion, too. I managed to grab some photos from the external stairs.

Mr. Scholtz was conducted egg-related science experiments this week as well. Eggs were dropped from quite a height as the students tried to create the most air-resistant parachutes. Activities like these really inspire and motivate children, so you will probably imagine that there was quite a buzz around the school at the time.

Speaking of motivating and inspiring youngsters, Mr. Ward and Ms. Irina took their Y4 cohort on a school trip to Experimentanium this week. It really is a great venue and I was informed by Mr. Ward (happy birthday again, sir!) that the children were great ambassadors for the school.

Thank you, Ms. Waldron, for accommodating me this week in the Student Council meeting. It was nice to address the students again. I enjoy chatting to the students and explaining which items we can possibly achieve and vice versa. It is important for them to understand that nothing is ever black and white and many considerations need to be taken. It is a great learning curve.

Also, my thanks to Mr. Anthony and the Y7 group for welcoming me as their judge for their debate on the pros and cons of school uniforms. I actually got to judge in another spot this week - for the Primary auditions for the summer concert (musical) - I had to look at the singing, acting, stage presence, you name it. Everyone did a great job to get up there and face the panel. Thank you, Mr. Marsh, Ms. Oxana and Ms. Anna. Now, bring on KS3!

Finally, we elected football captains via a vote in Y4 this week to make sure the Y3/Y4 lunchtime football sessions are fair, competitive and of a high standard. Watch this space as I want to see student-led clubs on the go, in this regard. Congratulations, Yejun and Sharjil!
