EYFS
Most children in EYFS preferred indoor play this week, saying it was too cold outdoors. They have been building with wooden blocks, painting, playing in the kitchen, dressing up the dolls, playing with Lego, building puzzles, getting into costumes…; but once they got outside they had a good time. 
This week EYFS learned the “Dd” sound in phonics, learning how to form the letter ‘Dd’, singing ‘See me play on my drum’ song and finding things that begin with ‘Dd’. They continue to write on the alphabet/ word letter formation cards and in little booklets that has been made for them on the writing table during free choice. 
In Numeracy, EYFS continue to learn numbers to 20 and more- counting, practicing our number formation, working on the interactive number lines and 100 square, as well as using both concrete and pictorial representations on the interactive whiteboard to build on counting and understanding of number. Children have also been singing ‘1,2,3,4,5…Once I caught a fish alive’ and ‘Ten green bottles…’ They are also getting quite confident with matching the wooden numbers to the amount represented on the card. 
In our topic ‘Winter Wonderland’ children looked at fun winter activities and were able to choose their favourite winter activities in a cut and stick task and talk about their favourite winter activities. EYFS continued with fun activities linked to the story ‘The Mitten’ with Miss Holly- using animal masks, they repeated key phrases from the story as they had fun making their way through a maze. The ICT focus continued this week, with children playing number and phonic games on the class computer, while also using interactive whiteboard tools. Some children can drag and drop using the mouse, while others have been doing so by dragging and dropping responses on the interactive whiteboard with their finger.
