Pro-L is a professional brickwall limiter, that combines all these flavors and qualities in one plug-in, making it suitable for any type of music/audio. It can be as transparent as needed, and can go as loud as you want it to go. Equipped with excellent metering, oversampling and dithering, Pro-L is everything you need in a limiter.

Deadly Digital offers the FabFilter Pro-L Limiter as a stand-alone product as well as a plugin for both Fostex and Waves plugins. It is an invaluable tool, at least for the head honcho. The problem is that it is quite expensive.
I have written this review because I recently reviewed FabFilter Pro-Q v1.2 and was surprised how good it was. I had a similar experience with Pro-L. After reading a bit about FabFilter, I started looking for its older versions. Read more on FabFilter here.

Pro-L Plugin is very stable and easy to use. It reminds me of Fruity Loops with its meter, bus selection and limiter.
The only thing I wasn't crazy about was the large number of controls on the GUI. When the software goes inactive, there is a heavy flicker. You have to have focus at all times to use the software.
The GUI layout is very simple, yet complex at the same time. The active and inactive areas of the screen are clearly visible, which makes it easy to determine the status of the user controls.
The controls are pretty much self explanatory, and the readout tells you what the setting does. The only slight annoyance is that the label for the threshold control is just "Threshold."
Basic controls include input and output buses, limiter, metering, ratio and gain controls.
Bus Selection
There are several plugins dedicated to monitoring the bus level. The Pro-L Limiter plugin gives you a choice of both hardware and software metering. With the hardware metering option, you can choose between metering on input bus, output bus, and summing input and output. The software metering can be calculated with a value from the expression:
Metering is available for stereo and mono inputs.
