Srinivas started the film-making team as producer, director and actor in 1986. The film was produced by Vijayakumar under the Udayasri Films banner. Karthikeya was filmed in Kannada with the same title as the original in 2014.
The film was released in Telugu on 25 August 2014 and was released in 1,500 screens across India. The film received mixed reviews from critics and was commercially successful.
Plot 
The story is about a tribal village named Dharamshala in a remote jungle area of India. The villagers lead a simple, unaffected life in the village. They live in harmony with nature, animals and each other. The village is protected by a powerful ancient deity. The deity is an elderly lady called Panchali, who controls everything in the village.
When the villagers hear stories of a well-known scientist, Dr. Siddhartha, and his great discoveries, everyone including the elderly Panchali falls in love with him. Panchali tells him that she wants to make him the lord of the village. But Siddhartha refuses to become the god. So, she wants to kidnap him and keep him hostage in the village.
Siddhartha falls in love with the village beauty, Meena. She falls in love with him, too, but her father Bharathidasan wants to get her married to Dr. Krishna and as such he wants to kill her with an axe. To avoid this, Meena’s mother begs Bharathidasan to not kill her child. But Bharathidasan’s daughter Mandavi tries to stop him. But due to the villagers’ fear of Dr. Siddhartha and Panchali, they do not help the family and even tries to help Panchali to kill Dr. Siddhartha. Dr. Siddhartha comes to know that they are plotting against him and he washes away the villagers’ innocence. He saves Meena’s life. As a result, he is expelled from the village and leaves to Mumbai.
Seven years later, Meena becomes pregnant and is unable to control her pregnancy. Bharathidasan offers her a last chance to get married. Bharathidasan’s daughter Mandavi and Panchali plan again to kill Dr. Siddhartha. While Meena is with her mother, Dr. Siddhartha and his assistant Jagann 3125841983
