A place where you can either kill or be killed. A place where the only thing keeping the peace is the promise of a fast boat to freedom. Welcome to the Republic.

A prison of sorts, the Republic is populated by a galaxy of characters who each offer their own ways to die. You play as Ajay Ghale, a local Indian guide in search of his family. You're an innocent man and in no way responsible for the events that follow. But for the sake of the story, you need to make some choices. When you leave the camp in which you're currently living, you're issued a weapon and a mission. Your goal? Escape the Republic, survive the warring factions and take out their leaders in the process. And I mean it. There is no saving this game.
I spent the entire first playthrough of the game taking out militia, and it was a constant fight. The need to protect myself against even the simplest weapons was constant. It was like playing a game in which every single bullet is a ricochet. You never know when a bullet is going to come flying at your face.
After my first playthrough, I was burned out. I was ready to hang up the game and move on to something more peaceful. When I got to my second playthrough, however, the story started to get better. The more I killed, the more things I learned about the world, about the characters and about my new allies. Like the character that Ajay's brother has, he's a slave to the warlords. He is their slave, the reason they wanted to capture Ajay in the first place. So instead of being a slave, he became a useful and loyal ally. Instead of being an enemy, he became a friend.
This isn't like other shooters, where you can tell the good guys from the bad guys just from the guns they're carrying. The Republic isn't a perfect place. There are no friendly, trustworthy characters on every corner. The world isn't a nice place. Everyone needs to be respected and if a person's actions betray that, you need to act. If your presence is threatening, you need to strike before the threat can become a reality. If you choose to not act, you will regret it. I doubt I will be the last character you will meet in this world.
