After a lot of theoretical discussion, we jumped into the BriefCam platform to see how the technology can be applied for video search and real-time alerting based on watchlist configuration and face matching, followed by a discussion about the ethical and responsible use of the technology:
BriefCam believes that video analytic technology has significant public safety benefits, as the technology is used to help find and rescue human trafficking victims, thwart potential terrorist attacks, solve hate crimes, crack cold cases, find missing children and help solve thousands of crimes. However, the use of Face Recognition is largely un-regulated, and because of this there are dramatically different opinions on whether the technology should be completely banned, or the use better defined through guidelines, policies and procedures.
