Welcome to the EIS Newsletter, Issue No. 15!

As you will see, this edition is essentially a Winter Concert 2023 bumper edition. The only text on display will be from yours truly. Accompanying the blurb will, hopefully, be a video of the performance, or snippets, as well as a collage of photographs. If there is no video, then please bear with us.

So, back to the concert. A huge, huge thank you to all the adults and parents for supporting the event and making it such a special occasion once again! This simply would not be the event it is without these crucial factors. Naturally, the biggest thanks of all must go to Ms. Anna and Ms. Oxana for their wonderful creations! The end result was superb and I thought the students did you both very proud. Thank you, and well done, ladies.

I must say another thank you to the Salut Hotel as well for their help and support. I think the venue is absolutely superb and perfect for our needs. The sound engineer was a great aid and really helped with some of the sound glitches in the rehearsals. They were hardly noticeable and few-and-far-between during the final performance which was excellent. The costumes were absolutely tremendous and I know a lot of parents made great efforts in this area, but it was worth it in my opinion, and they are brilliant keepsakes to look back on in years to come.

I could go on and on about individual performances and how proud I was of the students so I will just say this: what a pleasure it was to be able to witness students really face their fears and nerves and show what they can actually achieve. I was able to see students do things that I certainly would not have thought possible in the past and it is a superb way to gauge progress. I am a big fan of the 'hidden curriculum' where we improve things such as confidence, self-esteem, team work, resilience etc. It was all on display yesterday. Some students will never be the same again, without sounding melodramatic, but it is true. Certain hurdles were overcome and milestones crossed.
