Our performance tests showed that the vacuum has great performance on bare floors. Its suction power is high and can help you easily suck up dirt, dust, debris, and even pet hair.

UpLight also does a very good job when it comes to carpet cleaning. It distinguishes itself on both low-pile and high-pile carpets. Our testers reported that it was very easy to pick up stuck-on debris and pet hair from even thick-pile carpets and rugs.

There are two notable problems with the vacuum, though. First, suction is not adjustable. There is only a single suction mode, which affects the vacuum’s flexibility pretty heavily. Secondly, the brush roll cannot be turned off. If you have sensitive hardwood floors, this can be a problem.

As for the design, the vacuum looks very good and is very compact. It is a great-looking vacuum that instead of hiding away in a cupboard, you can proudly display at the corner of your living room.

Its sleek, compact form allows the Shark APEX UpLight to clean out tight corners and cramped, small spaces. Areas like the underside of furniture won’t be a challenge to this stick vacuum.

Where we found the Shark APEX UpLight to be lacking, though, is the weight. The vacuum weighs around 11 pounds, which is quite heavy for a stick vacuum. Its weight can be reduced down to 5 pounds if you remove the suction wand and the cleaning head.

Still, if you want your vacuum to be as light as possible, the UpLight may not be it.

It has a very good cleaning range with a 30 feet power cord. An okay-size dust cup that can hold 0.68 dry quarts of debris up to the fill line. And if you have allergies, the HEPA filter inside of the vacuum can protect you from allergen.
