This was disputed by some former employees, who said that this offer was not consistent with the ethos of the company, and who accused the company of intentionally driving down the value of Roblox to push out its workers.

Roblox was created in 2004 by David Baszucki and Erik Cassel, who met through video game collector and modder Scott Waddell. They originally intended to make a video game that allows players to create their own worlds, as there were no such platforms at the time. They designed the game using platforms they had played as children, such as The Oregon Trail. The game was initially known as Project Fronk, an acronym for 'For Kids Not Adults' and later spelled to 'Robeux'. The Roblox logo is a take on the Sony Logo, with a bright blue background.
Cassel and Waddell were the company's sole founders and developers, while Baszucki handled the marketing and business side. They released the game in July
