Author of the Month: Marcus Sedgwick

The fabulously talented, multi award winning author, Marcus Sedgwick was born in April 1968 in Kent on the southeast coast of England. After a career in book-selling and publishing, Sedgwick had his first novel, Floodland published in 2000. His love of myths and legends is evident to see especially in his young adult novels, where a rich Gothic theme runs through many of these titles. Marcus has been nominated for, and won a plethora of young adult and children's book awards, the most prestigious of all being nominated five times for the Astrid Lindgren Memorial Award, as well as eight nominations for the UK's oldest and best loved children's book award, CILIP Carnegie Medal.
