Just one thing on how to mod around a 300 - if you're going to overclock it, put in a lcd or some other LCD. The Intel X25-M is a small, cheap controller with a 240GB drive in it. It's a decent controller, but I have had better luck with the Maxtor Smart Array- or just a 2.5" 7200rpm drive in it. It's also more reliable.
If you don't want to or can't get a lcd/LED, I would suggest getting a 120GB 6G drive, and a Sandisk SATA->Sata cable to put in. There are some cheap USB SATA cables, but they're typically only USB-2.0.
First-pass metabolism and its effects on serum levels of morphine during continuous infusion.
The aim of this study was to investigate the contribution of metabolism to morphine's pharmacokinetic properties in man, and to study how drug metabolism affects the analgesic efficacy of morphine. Eight healthy volunteers (four males and four females) received, over 3 days, morphine 5 mg/kg i.v. as a constant infusion with 10-fold differences in the infusion rate. Serum concentrations of morphine were analyzed by HPLC. The areas under the concentration-time curves from 0 to 24 h (AUC0-24) for the four infusion rates ranged between 210 and 1320 microg h/L. The mean serum morphine clearance was between 0.1 and 0.2 L/h/kg. The first-pass metabolism was the major factor influencing the extent of morphine's absorption, because mean half-life of morphine in the systemic circulation was 1.0, 1.2, 1.6 and 1.9 h at the infusion rates of 0.01, 0.05, 0.1 and 0.2 mg/kg/h, respectively. The correlation between morphine concentrations in the systemic circulation and the morphine-derived area under the first-pass hepatic metabolism clearance-time curve in the circulation ranged between 0.85 and 0.98.
