**Exercise 1.2**
Create a layered Photoshop document with the following steps.
**1.** Open a new file in Photoshop. Use a 300 dpi image size.
  2. Place a 4-inch-by-6-inch patterned paper in the middle of the canvas.

Download the Product Key from your Adobe website or find the link to Photoshop Elements.
Elements is available for download as a.dmg (Disk Image) for Mac, as a.exe (Executable) for Windows, and as a.pkg (Mac Installer) for the iPad. If you’re using a different operating system, go to the appropriate page and download the appropriate package.
OS X
Download the.dmg for Mac from the link above.
Important: Make sure you download the.dmg file. Do not try to install the.pkg file.
Double-click the.dmg file to open it.
Now follow these steps:
From the window that appears, choose Install. This will start the installation.
When it is finished, Photoshop Elements will appear in the Applications folder.
Windows
Download the.exe file for Windows. This download page is only for Mac users, use the Mac.dmg file instead.
Double-click the.exe file to run it.
Follow these steps to complete the installation:
Click Next.
Select I accept the terms in the EULA.
Click Install.
When the installation is complete, it will open with the Photoshop Elements logo screen.
Click Photoshop Elements.
Click Photoshop Elements > Install.
When the installation is complete, Photoshop Elements will appear in the Start menu.
Click Start.
Type Adobe Photoshop Elements and click on the Start button.
When you open Photoshop Elements, you should see the following Welcome screen:
Choose Photoshop Elements > Options...
Choose your preferences from the following screen:
You can also right-click on an image in the Elements library and choose Edit in Photoshop Elements > Preferences... or right-click on an image, choose Photoshop Elements > Select > Edit in Photoshop Elements.
Once you click on OK, Photoshop Elements will close. Click on the Open button to the right.
Now, you will see the Welcome to Elements screen with the following tools:
From the above screen, you can choose Photoshop Elements > Welcome > Go to the Help menu.
