Bernie Sanders' political rise came via millions of voters in a historic election he won, claiming nearly as much support as Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton combined.
But he lost the presidential nomination and has a long way to go if he wants to make history again.

Just in case they don't, Democratic party chair Tom Perez rolled out a new strategy on Saturday that will involve turning many delegates and elected officials at the upcoming convention into superdelegates.
The idea is to change the party -- and the perception of it -- so that you have to be a "super delegate" to have any real influence in the process.
The main idea behind the new superdelegate system is to keep the supermajority of elected officials out of the process, giving them the chance to support candidates they like.
But some people are already up in arms about the new plan and they have plenty of motivation to make sure it's never put into effect. Sanders still has a substantial lead in the popular vote and he's unwilling to budge on some of the primary fights he's already had, setting up potential party chaos.
Even if his backers don't get much of the way, there's a chance they can create chaos in the convention.
If Sanders gives away his delegates -- or even stands for re-nomination -- it's likely to set up a convention with plenty of elected officials who don't want to take his delegates.
That could lead to a lot of yelling and fistfights among factions -- and the Sanders movement is already set up for that.
