Letter from the Executive Principal

Dear parents,

This term has been enormously pleasing in many aspects. We are now seeing the beginning of the end of the pandemic restrictions and a return to greater stability in our school routines and more familiar activities. This is very welcomed and long overdue, and I want to thank you all for your cooperation, patience and understanding over the past two and a half years. Throughout this time our focus has been on two matters: firstly, the health, safety and well-being of our students and staff, and secondly the continuance of learning for our students. Many other aspects were postponed, cancelled, continuously changed, or put on the shelf and although this caused some frustrations and inconveniences for all of us, I make no apology for our course of action. It was and will continue to prove to be, the right decision.
 
Of course, we cannot simply turn back time into “pre-covid mode” as so much has changed – and not all for the worse. We have learned a lot through these times, and it has changed society and the way we live our lives forever, and that includes school life. We will continue to face challenges, but we are much better prepared to deal with them and to prevail. There are no better examples of the resilience, courage and optimism required today than in our own students; from our youngest, who have never experienced a ‘normal school year ’,  to our former senior students who have graduated and are following their dreams at universities around the world. If we, as adults, needed role models on how to deal with a pandemic, we should look no further than some of our own children /students.
 
I am immensely proud of our school community, and I look forward to sharing good news stories every week as we go forward into our ‘brave new world’ together.
The World Cup is just around the corner – what a way to celebrate peace, togetherness, joy and harmony!
