Manny, Diego, and Sid arrive on an island, only to realize that they are stranded on an island that seems to be in the middle of nowhere. It is winter, and they soon discover that the only way to get off the island is by going through the center of the island, which is kept frozen in winter and thawed in summer. As they try to find food to sustain them, they discover a huge stone, and that it is not a rock, but a meteorite. They soon find out that they are on an island that is completely surrounded by water. They are then stalked by a group of birds and in the end of the story, a group of penguins fly them to the city of New York.
Manny, Diego, and Sid leave the plane in New York and find their way to a house. In the beginning of the story, Sid and Manny were in the passenger seat while Diego was in the pilot seat, although by the end of the story, it was the other way around. At first, they meet and see Will and Sally, but then they meet Granny, the housekeeper. They then go to the bathroom to look for food, but Diego stops them. He says that food can be found in the fridge, and then he goes into the kitchen. He soon finds a loaf of bread and returns to the living room with it. As he slices it, he hears a noise and looks up to find an intruder, who is Will. Soon after, he realizes that it is his old friend, Sid. They take their pillows and go to sleep, and they dream that they are playing with penguins.
