Heavily improved performance and stability in multiplayer, especially in big games
with lots of diplomacy and many nations.
Major rework of the shadow magic mechanics. It now uses a high level of conversion to
turning negative units into positive units. This means that, for example, a shadow wizard casting
portal on a Shadow Warrior will not instantly kill it, but merely make it invisible for the
duration of the spell. At the same time, any units that would normally be killed by the spell are
turned into units that are invulnerable to the shadow effect, giving you more freedom in
structure-building and campaign design.
The new shadow magic mechanics also allow players to create units that are'shadowed'
invulnerable to shadow effects, which can be used as follow-up actions to shadow wizards, thus
giving you more control over your end-game strategies.
Shadow wizards are now quite able to destroy all of the enemy shadowed units by casting
their teleport skill, thus allowing for some stunning and creative end-game tactics.
Using shadow channelled rays, you can now cast temporary spells such as planeswalk and
teleport, which are much more useful in the campaign and in multiplayer.
A complete overhaul of the diplomacy menu - you now have a 'nations' list, that allows
you to change all the nations in the game, and a 'campaign' list, which allows you to set up the
diplomatic responses for any battle or treaty, including allowing you to choose between one of
the new shadow magic spells that were introduced in patch 1.1. This also allows you to change
all the end-game goals for a given campaign.
Version 1.2 has been made playable using the AoW repository version, but it still has a few
known issues, mainly regarding the diplomacy menu, the AI, and the shadow magic.

The shadow spell portal, shadow clone and shadow stone teleport are now much more useful
for the players, as they allow you to place a portal close to your units, teleport them instantly
