How can i create a file without overiding the existing one in linux?
I'm trying to move file from source to destination with the help of the command mv src src destination. However, if the destination folder already exists, then the command does not overwrites the existing file with the new one. Instead, it creates a new folder and overwrites the old one with a new file inside.
Can someone please help me out?

If you want to overwrite an existing file, simply don't use the mv command.  Use cp instead, and all will be well.  Like this:
cp -v /my/source/path /my/destination/path
The -v (--verbose) flag is useful when you need to see what is being copied.
As per documentation (man cp), the -v flag is "Try to be more informative: copy the file's data verbatim, and print to standard error information about the copy process, not the file being copied."
In short, mv is not designed to work with existing data, but to move data from one location to another.  You should use cp or rsync.
