3 – What’s Live in You?
A transition round to take us out of the space easefully. Though so far, the conversation has continued after every session on Twitter as KAYTE always shares a screenshot of our reflection question from the spinner board. Additionally, folks share photos of themselves reading the book in the fortnight prior to the session which also generates conversation between us as a group and other practitioners, too. David Price talks about the use of social media during the recent crises as a “source of compassion, not conflict” (2020:41) and the FE EduTwitter community has certainly been a testemant of that (which I hope continues #nogobackery). I hope seeing these posts inspires other practitioners to read the books (or just read in general!) whether on their own, with their colleagues, join our group or even make their own! 
The original aims of the #FEreadingCircle (yes, we even have a hashtag, now) have been met and surpassed. That is, simply; I wanted to read more texts and engage with them fully (inc reading them front to back). Whilst I feel myself slipping behind because my workload is enormous right now, the group format makes me feel I am accountable to the group, even though there is some leeway offered in our initial question. I feel like I want to read as much as I can, so I can contribute as fully as possible. This contribution includes of course, my generative listening of other participants during our thinking rounds. With that in mind, I am reminded of this quote (yes, one more from Nancy!): “Sustaining of generative attention can turn us towards each other” (2020:10). So simple, but so true. We're nearly at the end of our second book, nearly 3 months in and I feel I have learned so much about my peers as well as myself. I feel close to them, I answer that first question honestly and openly, and I believe they do, too. It can feel uncomfortable and sometimes I feel anxious afterwards that I shouldn't have shared X or I sounded stupid when I said Y, but I am beginning to understand the importance of showing vulnerability without fear (maybe the next book should be Brené Brown? 😉).
