EYFS
EYFS have loved playing in the snow this week. The new sledges have been a hit, while they continue to use shovels, hunt for ice, build castles and bring in ice and lumps of snow to watch them melt. While indoors, EYFS have enjoyed construction activities using Lego, wooden blocks and the green mats; fitting together puzzles, reading, playing with dolls, dressing up, drawing and painting.  
This week EYFS learned the “Mm” sound in phonics, learning how to form the letter ‘Mm’, singing ‘The mums and the dads make many meals’ song and finding things that begin with ‘Mm’. They have also begun spontaneously writing lovely simple messages about their families, their names on the Smartboard during registration; while reading simple CVC words and playing rhyming words tennis with lots of adult modelling.  
In Numeracy, EYFS are revisiting numbers to 20 and counting. We returned to counting, clapping, stomping amounts to 20, while practicing our number formation. Children have also been singing ‘1,2,3,4,5…Once I caught a fish alive’ and ‘One, two…buckle my shoes’. 
In our topic ‘Winter Wonderland’ children continue to learn about Arctic animals through stories, including ‘Save the Arctic’ during story time and ‘The Mitten’ with Miss Holly. We also worked with a partner to sort and pack a winter and summer holiday suitcase, making sure we have thick, warm, woollen clothes for winter. We began this week with a strong ICT focus, with children playing number and phonic games on Ipads, using the Smartboard to write and draw, as well as interactive whiteboard tools to drag and drop the correct number of cupcakes for teddy. 
RUSSIAN. EYFS focused on the letter Ф. Children practised their handwriting and syllabic reading and we also watched a funny video with Aunty Owl, which helped us to learn a lot of words starting with the letter Ф.
