Babylon Chat is a Java application.
To install Babylon Chat, download it from 
The Babylon Chat download includes a Babylon Chat.jar file and a Babylon.war file (war file is for OS/2).
Run the java application by double-clicking on the Babylon.jar file.
You can also run the application by typing the following command at the prompt:
java -jar Babylon.jar
Note: the -jar option must be used to execute the file.
Starting the Application:
By default, Babylon Chat is placed in the user's home directory, /home/kristian.
Type this command to start the application:
java -jar BabylonChat.jar
Running a private chat room:
When we run a private conversation (one-on-one chat), Babylon will take the command line as input and print out the result.
Type this command to start a one-on-one chat:
java -jar BabylonChat.jar -n resident

You can optionally specify an IP address as follows:
java -jar BabylonChat.jar -n resident 192.168.0.7
Where resident is the name of the shared room.
Running a group chat room:
Babylon Chat is designed to be used in a group chat, a 'conversation'. This can be created by joining multiple Babylon Chat users in the same place. When we join in the same chat, Babylon will automatically announce us as 'participant' in the room. The room will then be modified to show the details of all participants.
Join or create a group chat room as follows:
java -jar BabylonChat.jar -n chat

Where chat is the name of the shared room, chat is the name of the users we wish to add.
Running more than one Babylon Chat session at once:
The program can be used as a multiple-user chat application.
Type this command to start a multi-user chat:
java -jar BabylonChat.jar -n multiple

Where multiple is the name of the shared room.
Multiple Babylon Chat sessions can be running at the same time, on the same machine.
Running the Applications:
Babylon Chat can run in several different modes.
To start a new conversation, either type:
java -jar BabylonChat.jar -c

Then open a Terminal window, navigate to the directory you extracted the archive to and type:
cd Babylon
./build_babylon.sh (if necessary, you'll need to change to the directory above in the Terminal).

i tend to really like oscs but only when it's on a slackware installation. (and i'm not really sure what to do with the libosdcpp file )
oh well, you might want to take a look at some of these osc programs, too:
osc2 is the'most' slackware compatible patch for oscs (i dont recommend using another product because there is an osc version that's straight compatible with slackware)
os2 has the 'nicest' design for a patch (i don't recommend using other versions, because there is an osc version that's straight compatible with slackware, so i don't see the point, but maybe it helps you or someone who might come here someday)
as for sls2, i havent messed with it, but it looks like it's an excellent patch for an osc, doesn't it?
