Ok, so I guess that posting this is adding to the pile of confusion. I'm using Csound 5.1.0 on Win7 32bit (not 64bit). I installed the msvc redistributable via the windows installer, and it did not return this error when I ran. However, after reading various posts I do not believe I'm running the redistributable file version, because when I looked in my redist folder, it said that it was the version "6.1.2830.0". Also, I confirmed my version info via Csound and it said "5.1.0" (the same as what i installed). My new problem, is that the synth is sounding great (I think), and it has amazing instrumentation, but the drums don't sound like I would expect them to sound. For example, they sound similar to the sample version, but don't seem to have that nice "tombstoned" bottom. Also, they don't always hit on beats 4-5 or 6-7. I've been playing with the MSFT metronome and it doesn't seem to be doing anything.
So it appears that I do have the redist file right? And am I running the version of Csound that was installed (it said 5.1.0, but is it really that old?). I'm not exactly sure what I'm doing and how I should proceed to try to fix my problem. Any suggestions?
I haven't completely followed your post but there are at least two other suggestions:
1) Start with good old speaker volume control (if you have one).
2) Set the metronome to a different drum instrument.
My money is on the metronome. I also suggested something similar in my post. It shouldn't be too hard to do. Sometimes the default sounds just aren't what you want.
I don't have a microphone on my computer and there is no master volume control. There is metronome control, but that's it. I changed instruments and it seems to have fixed the problem. Is there any way to customize the default sounds?
